BEREAVEMENT and LAZARUS MINISTRY
The mission of the Bereavement Ministry is to reach out to parishioners who are mourning the loss of a loved one. The committee meets with the family in an informal setting and they are encouraged to share their feelings with the committee members. All sessions are kept confidential. Scriptural passages are part of each session to help the families through the grieving process. This program is facilitated by a licensed clinical social worker with experience in dealing with loss and grief.
LAZARUS MINISTRY
Named after the friend of Jesus whom the Lord raised from the dead, Lazarus Ministry assists those experiencing a loved one's death. The primary exclusive focus will be guiding grieving parishioners through the planning of the Funeral Mass, but also provides food dishes for the grieving family in the days immediately prior to and following the Funeral.
HOLY NAME SOCIETY
The Holy Name Society promotes the honor and glory of God and the personal sanctification of its members by acts of love and devotion to the most Holy Name of Jesus. The chapter at The Church of St. Ann convenes on the third Sunday of the month at the 10:00 a.m. Mass, followed by a meeting to discuss activities and participate in decorating the church for major religious holidays.
ROSARY ALTAR SOCIETY
The Rosary Altar Society of The Church of St. Ann is composed of parish women who commit themselves to the imitation of Mary's virtues and secure her patronage by the recitation of the Holy Rosary for the mutual benefits of all members throughout the world. We also serve the parish in fulfillment of its objectives under the direction of the pastor/administrator.
As an active group, the Rosary Altar Society meets every quarter from September to June. We participate in monthly recitation of the Holy Rosary before Corporate Mass at 10:00 a.m. and participate in monthly Corporate Communion 10:00 am Mass for the deceased and living members of the Rosary Altar Society; assist in maintaining the church altar as directed by the pastor/administrator; send a Mass card to family of deceased member and include the dead in our intention when reciting the Holy Rosary; keep in touch with the members of the Society in times of sickness, sadness, and joy; and participate during the May crowning of Mary in support of the school.
A spiritual morning of prayer, usually a Saturday in the Spring, is organized and open to members, friends, family, and parishioners. In celebration of Christmas, an annual Christmas luncheon is held in December or January.
The Rosary Altar Society also coordinate two fundraising events each year as follows:
St. Rita's Roses - members distribute roses after Masses on the Feast of St. Rita
Fall Harvest Bake Sale - members donate homemade treats that are sold before and after Masses on an approved weekend in October.
SANTO NINO
The Santo Nino prayer group was started by newly arrived Filipino families in the early 1990’s. In the beginning, these families took turns praying the Rosary and novena for the Santo Nino (Holy Infant Jesus). On the third Sunday of January each year this prayer group celebrates the annual Santo Nino Fiesta with a Mass in honor of Santo Nino and a dinner/dance of thanksgiving for his many gifts. At this time, a new Mayor (Leader/Coordinator) is chosen. The number of devotees has grown so much that three Images of the Holy Infant Jesus are transferred on a weekly basis to different families. Every first Friday, a rosary and novena is conducted by the group in the Church Meeting Room.
