ALTAR SERVERS:
Please fill out the above form if you are interested in serving.
We especially need Altar servers, readers, Eucharistic Ministers, and ushers for the 5:00 PM Sunday mass.
Youth Altar Servers
The altar server ministry is a way for the youth of the parish to be part of the Mass. Beginning in the fourth grade, children can directly assist the priest through setting up of the altar, preparation of the gifts and being prayerful as an example to the people of God that attend Mass. This ministry is an excellent way for children to actively participate in their faith of Jesus Christ.
Training is provided by the pastor.
Adult Altar Servers
Male and female parish members age 18 and older as well as former altar servers are needed to assist in service of the daily Mass. They directly assist the priest in the same way the youth altar servers participate.
EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS of the EUCHARIST: Please fill out the above form if you are interested in serving.
The Eucharist, our source and summit of Christian life, assures us that to serve at the table of the Lord as an Extraordinary Minister to which one is called is a privilege. The opportunity to serve at Sunday Mass, daily Mass, bring communion to the sick and homebound is afforded to those who have
a sincere desire to serve their fellow parishioners. Training is provided to those who are willing to make a commitment and are practicing Catholics who have received all appropriate Sacraments, including, if married, a sacramental marriage. Extraordinary Ministers must be at least 18 years of age. This ministry for service is given at the discretion of the pastor/administrator and must be approved by the bishop.
..."Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink." (John 6: 54-55)
READERS: Please fill out the above form if you are interested in serving.
To serve around the table of the Lord, to proclaim God's Word as a reader is a special privilege and ministry. A reader must possess the special gift of being able to read well, and the ability to proclaim God's Word. As a reader, you have the opportunity to use His gift to you to present the Word of God to the community in a way that can move the hearts of those who hear it. In this role, you share in a long tradition in our Church of proclaiming the Word to the community.
USHERS: Please fill out the above form if you are interested in serving.
A church usher is a volunteer who acts as a greeter and guide in the church. The usher is often the first representative of the congregation when visitors and parish members encounter when entering the church. Some responsibilities of the usher are as follows: arrive 15 minutes prior to Mass; warmly greeting and welcoming visitors as they enter the church; assist any special needs (i.e. wheelchair bound, handicapped) find a seat safely and ask if they need communion brought to them; assist anyone that becomes ill during Mass; pass collection baskets and bring them to the altar during the Liturgy of the Eucharist; hand out bulletins at the end of Mass; and at the end of Mass, check the entire church for any items left by attendees and place them in lost and found.
